I've had my Tamora sinse October last year when it was on about 11k. I love driving the car and do so at least once a week and use it for going away on weekends etc. Anyway the car is now on 18k and I know its not high mileage as such but am getting slightly concerned what is perceived as high mileage when it comes to selling it. I don't want to sell the car but don't want to be not able to sell it if I need to. Can you please let me know your thoughts/advise?
P.S I've had the car all this time, all be it in and out of the garage and havn't had the chance to meet other TVR owners. Can anyone let me know the next get together please? (I'm from Bristol but don't mind travelling)

Say you were going to sell, i would get a full top end check done by good indy or dealer and ask them to right a report up and sign it. At the end of the day if you have still got the correct clearances in the top end then i wouldn't care what mileage the car had done. With these cars mileage doesn't seem to be linked to engine condition. Every engine is different. I wouldn't mind buying a speed 6 engine with 70k on the clock as long the engine had been checked over fully and the price reflected the mileage of course. Don't worry and keep driving her, thats what you bought it for. I would be more worried buying a tvr that hadn't had it's clutch done for 15-20k than a high mileage one.
I have had the autocraft top end rebuild but that is a whole different story(not happy!!!). The clutch hasn't gone yet but I've had it recondition so hopefully will last a bit longer. I understand what is involved with the car now but I was just wandering if it would put people off buying a car with 30k that wern't like minded?
I'm not a member of the TVRCC but will join if that is where I find out when and where things happen!

Personally I would'nt sell the car just because of a concern that 18-20k is too high a mileage on a TVR. If you still enjoy the car and it drives well then I'd suggest hanging on to it. With very few TVR's having been built in the last 2-3 years the frequency of finding cars with less than 10k miles is going to diminish rapidly and those with very low mileages will suffer from the 'under-used car syndrome'. As time goes by it will be more important to find well maintained cars that have had the correct servicing and use. If you look at models like the Griffith, they are still trading for good money with 50-60k miles and there are hardly any cars with under 20k on the clock. Admittably, the speed 6 does not share the same reliability reputation but hopefully the more recent cars will repair some of the speed 6's reputability. What is perceeved as high mileage on cars is often quite strange. Take 911's as another example. People often sell at 35-40k miles because they fear that over that mileage they become a lot harder to shift, indeed, main dealers won't generally sell a car with over 40k on the clock yet they are sold in the first p-lace on the premise of being bullet proof engineering and built to last a lifetime!!

Andrew why don't you join the Bristol TVRcc run up to the Griff Growl on Sunday. Meeting at the Willy Wicket in Bristol at 10am. You can then experience being a member of the TVR club and I can bore you to death with my engine upgrade history.
Thanks for the invite, I would love to come. Where is it you are going and how many of you?FrancoTam said:
