I bought a 172 Sport on Saturday and found that my Road Angel won't pick up a signal in the car? It works fine in my Boxster and after much jiggling around I mounted it as low as possible at the bottom of the windscreen in the middle and got a signal after a long period of time, but then this same position would not work the next day!!

Does the 172 Sport have some kind of windscreen coat that makes it inpenetrable? If so is it pointless trying to use a SatNav unit for the same reason?

All help appreciated as it's otherwise a brilliant little motor!

hello mate...yeah they have a heat reflective windscreen which tends to interfere with satnav and other devices..however where you have positioned it(in the center as the lowest point), there is small rectangle of normal window which is for use for electronic tag thingys for toll roads, which is probably the best place for it...was hoping to use a satnav myself for a trip to France..but i think external aeriel is required!

2 ways to do this - external aerial on back windo or place it on the far right of the dash next to the window and you should just about get a signal

Cheers guys. I spotted the clear square at the bottom of the windscreen in the middle which worked eventually on Sat but not on Sunday for some bizzare reason. Will try the right hand-side as well as suggested.

Thanks again,

my sat nav was buggering about on sun - might have something to do with cloud cover

Mmmm neither the bottom middle or the very right of the windscreen seem to work - looks like its an antenna job and another another annoying wire!
