Mine creaks when on anything but smooth road surfaces. It's doin me head in.
Any one else experienced same?
Can anything be done to resolve?

The only creaking I've ever experienced came from the over centre roof struts . A little lubrication at the joints soon fixed that .

Have you recently had any suspension work done? You can get issues with suspension bushes pinching if tightened in drop, also I've known shockers to creak too.

Creaks? or squeaks as you would imagine a piece of hard rubber would sound on a shiny surface? Like little chirrup noises coming from over your left shoulder on any little uneveness in the road? Is that what it's like?

I had a strange creak on mine for some time that I just couldn't find. Finally it was located to the passenger door solenoid chiruping, new solenoid, no more creaks. I could have sworn it was the chassis or suspension. Just a thought! biggrin:

They are not little chirrup noises, they are definately creaks.
They are coming from the near side back wheel arch area. They happen when ever there is some uneveness in the road.
I have pushed up and down just above the wheel arch, and I can replicate the creak that way.
Maybe its is the shockers. But Im not sure how to check if this is the source of the problem, and if so how to resolve.

same for me, easy to test, remove the door switch, tape the wire ends up with insulating tape and secure outside the car, and test drive. the area you suggets the noise is coming from is exactly where you woul dhear this

If it's the sort of noise mine used to make it was more of body /chasis / transmission creak.

But I would only get this noise when I had been on a run and was pulling back onto the drive (slight incline), on thses occasions you'd get a creak through the central section of the car...it disappeared after my rebuild....poss body flexing at the point of contact with the chassis or gearbox / engine mounts in my case.

I had a faulty shock fitted at one point but the noise was more of a high pitched squeak, perhaps you could start with spraying some WD40 / lubricant in the surrounding area where the noise appears to be coming from as a starting point?

Best start with the simple thing things then move on.

Try spraying the rear metalistic bushes on the wishbones (inner and outer), the diff bushes (front and rear) and the rubbers / Bush on the shockers.

Might be best to do one part at a time to help indentify culprit?

Hope this makes sense

Yes it does, thanks Schmig. I think thats good advice. I will try to get it over a pit and having a good look, then start greasing / lubricating one bit at a time.

No worries, good luck with it, these silly little problems can get to you after a while and spoil the smile factor..

I used to have this, no one could ever pinpoint the problem. Then one day I had rose jointed ARB drop links fitted and the problem was solved. It was the ARB moaning and groaning.

Could well be the drop links.
As I said, I think I will have a look, and slacken off the top and bottom bolts slightly, and then give it a run. If it stops creaking, then lubricate and re-tighten bolts

Yep, I'd look at the rear anti roll bar if I were you. Could be the bushes or the droplinks.

In my case I fitted new anti roll bar poly bushes (all lubed up correctly) and this created a squeaking noise. The new bushes were a little to big for the clamps holding them. I elongated the slots and holes in the clamp and spread them open a little. This cured the sqeak.

Took me ages to find it because I'd done so much to the car before the squeak started so I didn't know where to start!

Good luck smile

I've had the same thing too for past 2 years, at the rear near side. More of a rattle/knock than a creak, I've had the boot apart using sound proof material also replaced ARB since which made no difference.

It does sound less pronounced with teh roof down, whether thats the external noise drowning it out or whether its the alloy struts is debatebale. Good advice but i recall oiling them with no diffrence.

I've given up & put it down as a characteristic. If youidentify the culprit please let us know....

I had a problem that matches your description perfectly. The car was creak free for the first two years of ownership, then started creaking after Chimfest 06. On entry to Chimfest I was forced to go in via the side gate (to the left of the cattle grid) and I caught the bottom of the car on a metal spike sticking out of the ground (a gate fixing stud I think). Thought no more about it until I noticed the squeaking a few days later.

It turned out that the metal post had caught on the rear anti-roll bar and bent it quite significantly backwards. It had become banana shaped, and the altered length and angles then caused the bushes to squeak whenever there was different pressures on the two rear wheels.

I replaced the ARB with a enw straight one, and all has eben fine ever since!

So I'd suggest checking your anti roll bar and its mountings.

Well I got it up on blocks.
No sign of anything amiss with the ARB / Drop links.
Greased all round. No creaking when pushing down over the back wheels.
Soon as I took it for a spin, creaking returned!
Can't work out what the hells going onfrown

I had this - turned out the passenger door wasn't shut properly. Give it a good slam and see if this helps...

Clutching at straws I know, but it might work?

Dip it in grease. The whole thing. And spray everything with WD40.

Other than that, no idea... sorry!
