Hi,the other day i took the roof out of the boot put it back on my tusc went to close the boot and it wouldnt close, its like when it opened the latch never sprung back fully,the rear badge doesnt seem to work any more either. ive tried opening/closing the passenger door and locking/unlocking the car as ive read on some other stories to reset it but nothing seems to work, has any body any ideas, 2000 tusc 4l

Sounds like a dodgy solenoid not returning, that's the only thing connected to the catch IIRC.

any idea where the solonoid is for the boot release so i can give it a poke, because its always been fine but i did make the mistake of leaving it out in the rain the other night, cheers big Al

IIRC it's under the latch joined by a short length of wire.

Silly question but have you ensured that the top is sitting correctly in the boot? Sorry if it sounds a daft question but you never know.

Reason I ask is because with a full boot or if I dont position the top correctly in the boot, my boot lid doesn't close properly and it gives the same symptons as yours gives.

yes, i put the lid back on the car. tried pressing bown the latch with the boot open and it still doesnt work, nearly catches. but latch open too far. think ill try and fiddle about with the solanoid tomorrow.

hi guys, thanks for the pointers, it was the solonoid that was faulty. felt round the far end of the solonoid to the lever bit, worked it a few times in and out whilst pressing the rear badge, after a few times the solonoid began to click then many times later started to work properly again. seems to work ok at the minute but am definatly goin to order a new one.
