My A3's been back with Audi to sort out an odd little paint blister thats appeared on the roof under warranty. Its been back to the dealer twice now, both times they've not even bothered to call me to collect my car when its arrived back from the bodyshop as the quality of the paint work carried out is woeful and its been sent back.

I'm presuming they sub the work out, am I right because it sounds like whoever's attempting to paint it doesn't really know what they're doing?.

I'm now beginning to lose the will to live with them, I cant even remember what my car looks like now its been so long and I'm also sick to the back teeth of the crappy A4 2.0TDI SE auto I've been given to get about in....talk about a let down.

Apologies...rant over.

Has anyone else ever had any paint issues carried out under warranty?. I'm a fussy bugger so I just know when it does finally appear and I can collect it I wont be happy with it and just cant see an end to it any time soon frown .

I have had paintwork done under warranty through an Audi dealer's own paintshop and the results were woeful. I could have a mega rant about how amateurish the work and attitude was but there's no point as they will not change.

I eventually threatened to take the car elsewhere to have the job done and invoice the delaer since they were incapable of doing the job in the first place, the dealer principal got involved after that and hey presto the job was done. Forgot to say it was them who damaged it in the forst place when valeting it for delivery!

I've picked the car up today actually, however it was soaking wet due to the rain so I cant comment on the quality of the work until its dried off and in some sunlight. Bit miffed as the cars minging inside, big dusty footprints all over it and its clearly been used to ferry people about it as they headrests in the back are all at different levels etc.

I refused to sign anything to say I was happy, and told them if it wasn't tip top when dry its coming straight back,...to which they regrettably agreed.

I have had issues with Audi Dealer paintshops. My 1998 Audi A6 was hit in the company car park and needed a new wing, paint on the door, replacement front panel and bumper "girder" behind. I marked the bumper girder with a wax crayon with my initials and date of birth and lo and behold they managed to replicate it perfectly on the "new" part they fitted. There was overspray everywhere, a new mark on the bonnet where a tool had been dropped on it so I rejected it. Second attempt to collect was much the same. Distinct mismatch on the colour which they suggested that I polish out! Eventually the workshop forman came out to speak to me and he turned out to a someone I knew from years ago and he just looked and said "Oh this is yours is it? We'd better do it properly then!"
Second incident when a kind lady managed to run into the back of me in a garage queue after she had "just polished her pedals!" Once again the car came back with an extra dent which they had to fix quickly.

Don't accept anything less than you are really happy with, check the mileage to see if they have been using it and demand to know why the interior is filthy. At least try and get a free service or something out of them.

To quote other PH'ers "and breathe!"
