Hi Guys,
Having done nearly two thousand miles in the car in just over a week I thought I'd give you a quick update of how I'm getting on with LP07. I have to say I think its finally sunk in that the car is mine (and Si's of course!)now that its back in its home environment. Both Simon and I were kind of unphased by the whole experience of collecting it from the factory, I think for the following reasons:
a)I think the whole process had gone on for that long (the car was delayed 5 months from the promised delivery date) that when the day finally arrived it was a bit of an anti climax as I don't think it had really sunk in that we had at last got the car.
b)Keeping the revs down on the way back (for running in purposes)didn't really enlighten the true differences and potential of the changes made by Lamborghini and subsequent performance.
c) My other half said 'well you've got one Lambo already so its going to be a let down isn't it?'
Now that I've had just over a week with the car I can honestly say I'm truly staggered by what Lambo have done with this car compared to the old Murcie. The car was at another one of our experience days at Elvington on Saturday and ran non stop from 9am - 6pm without missing a beat (at one point I had about 8 people waiting for drives!). Getting the car on the track further highlighted the differences made to this car over the previous Murcie. Where as before if you pushed the old murcie to the limit you'd get virtually no feedback as to the limits of its grip and then it'd let go with very little warning. The LP is totally different in its execution of how it handles. The drive, whilst you can feel the extra mass off the car compared to a gallardo is very much reminiscent of the Gallardo drive. The chassis like the Gallardo starts to understeer and then the back lets go in the same style as the gallardo. You have to be quick to catch it, but it gives you so much more confidence with the car to push it hard.
The power delivery though is the surprising thing, below 5K rpm I'd go so far as to say its a little bit flat, then you hit 5,000 Rpm and its as though someone has lit the afterburner it then goes properly into warp speed. To be frank its properly, properly fast!!
The other surprising thing is that the brakes are absolutely superb. I gave it some proper hammer on Saturday round the track and at no point was there any fade or grumbling... they just worked. I'm so glad we didn't pay the £8K for the carbon ceramics!
Well I've got the car for a few more days (it goes into Lambo Manch on Monday)as its got to have its first service and a few little problems resolved and then Simon has it for a couple of weeks boohoo. I'll be maximising my time in it this weekend with a big grin on my face. I'm sure Simon will be posting his comments in Evo... so watch this space!
Andy.

Do you share the car? How do you make that feasible? (if you don't mind me asking?! As I have always pondered on the joint ownership of a hypercar with a friend!)
Its easy. Share the deposit, then split the finance repayments. Any costs 50/50 and each of you has it alternate months/weeks. Works really well - or it did till I read Andy's last post. 2000 MILES!! Andy where have you been in it!!?? Flam*n Nurburgring!!?? That means I'll have to match it next week. Its going on holiday to Northern Scotland with me

Anyone with the new LP640 will of course say that it is better than the previous model but the differences are minimalistic in road use which is the main reason we buy these cars
... which is exactly what a (recent purchase??) Murciélago 620 Roadster owner would say ...
ps: your Murciélago looks i testicoli del cane, by the way... have you joined LCUK??
