Insurance company "Insco".

Policyholder "Polhol".

We carried out some work for Polhol after Insco's 'nominated' repairer could not attend within reasonable time. We authorised this work BEFORE carrying out. Have reference name etc.

Approaching 50 days now, so we call Insco and ask the question. Man in finance dept informs us that we do not have a direct-billing arrangement with them (yes, we knew that!) therefore, Polhol will be sent the monies for our invoice.

We will have to chase Polhol for settlement of our invoice to them...

HUH??

What does the policy holder say about it? If they already have the payment and are willing to play ball then I'd just take it from them to save hassle.

In any other case, I'd be inclined to insist that the insurance company pay direct. If they authorised the work and you have a reference (even better if purchase order) than they are the client, simple as that.

Sounds to me like the person at the insurance company can't be bothered to put you on the system and it's just easier to click the pay policy holder button. Ask to be put through to another person in accounts if they don't budge.
