My 2004 - 54 T350t is due an annual service at the end of the year. I took it to David Gerald in Worcester who did a cracking job. With all the issues with TVR have they gone for good or coming back in 2008 i was just wondering peoples views on getting the car serviced with a tvr dealer or a normal car garage which dabbles with tvr's?

Obviously a tvr dealer would have all the experience but is the stamp in the book really worth anything now for how much the cars are worth and with no factory.

I feel sorry for the tvr dealers with the situation that they have been put in but i am still 50/50 in what to do!!

Any comments would be grateful

If I was looking to buy a TVR I would much prefer to see main TVR dealer stamps in the service book. I am not denying that there are some very good 'non dealer' TVR service specialists because there are. Some of the TVR dealers are worth supporting. Some perhaps not. I'll be using HHC at Hexham to look after my car.

I'd go for that TVR stamp every time. Either a main dealer or one of the recognised specialists. Just for peace of mind and for if and when you choose to sell. I've been to David Geralds for all my recent services and cannot fault those guys at all. First rate, and can source the parts. I'd not go near some fly by night outfit with lads straight from one of the tyre & exhaust places. Always a risk that one of them takes your P&J for a test drive!

The indy i take my 350 to, has a guy who worked at the factory building the engines and servicing them at TVR Engineering. He even built a few speed 12's. So in my opinion is more experienced working with them than most dealers anyhow. You have to ask yourself if you will make the extra price back that you pay for taking it to a dealer when you come to sell. I got annual 12k service full top end check (3 hours labour extra) all genuine tvr parts done by a guy that knows these engines inside out for £650 that also included a set of wipers and a valleted car when i picked it up.

With someone like that in your area then I can certainly see the appeal, especially if your local main dealer is not particularly good. A lot of it comes down to where you are really.

i done the same, travelled from aberdeen about 350 miles to have a (ex factory) specialist rather than a dealer, the price was similar to smithy's and good service!

I use an Indy (APM, Liphook).
Great service, sensible prices.
My main dealer is too far away, plsu I've always used Indies before on Lotus etc. and found them more experienced.

I use Automedon in Blackpool, ex factory lads and spot on. They are 3 hours from me but worth it for piece of mind.
