Hi, Does anyone know this car that I am about to go and look at?

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/214666.htm

Aparently serviced at joospeed 9000 miles ago (with tappet adjustment) and last serviced (presumably elsewhere) in November 1300 miles ago.

Any further info or pointers as to what to look for when inspecting would be very much appreciated.

Thanks
Peter

Red with a light interior - obviously the best combination biggrin
Nitrons, new clutch, 18" wheels, updated lights and lowish miles & a new clutch. Seems to tick the right boxes and it's cheap.

wrong wheels and lights.
not my fave colour combo.
Not that cheap unless it is spot on.
Service history...... Joospeed stopped servicing a long time ago. Has it had big gaps?

It seems to have had a fair few owners - average about 1 a year!, but from what I understand servicing seems to be at about the right milage intervals.

I guess I will find out more when I see it.

Personaly I quite like the later lights but more importantly wife likes the colour!!! I cant make my mind up about the wheels.

Mileage intervals AND time intervals?
If the car only does 6K miles in 4 yrs it will still need 4 services.

I understand, though I wont know for sure untill I go and see it. Its on the list to check.

Is it unusual for a Cerbera to change owners so often or does it indicate a problem car? Longest ownership is 2 years, several a lot shorter.

[Tom Jones] It's not unusual...[/Tom Jones]

Some peeps buy Cerbs thinking they're going to get German reliability, and the first big bill comes along and they run a mile. Some buy them just to scratch the Cerb 'itch' then move on. Some buy them and then scare themselves silly and sell up. At least the last owner kept it for 2 years, hopefully thats a good sign?

Whatever you do, get it inspected by a specialist or at the very least a local owner who knows his way round a Cerb.

Is this a Cat D car? That might explain the change of lights and the cheap price.

I see James Agger has just put a nice example up around the same price and area-ish: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/214223.htm

Yes, it was cat D'd in 2003. Unfortunatley I havnt been able to arrange an inspection in time, so could anyone tell me what Cerbera specific things they would look for? I have a good many years experience restoring and maintaining V12 Jags, so I am confident enough at general inspection, but it is those model specific idiosyncrasies I would like to know. It isn't the first one I have looked at and might not be the last!

I am sure the guy that owned that car at the time it was damaged used to post on here,it might be worth searching some old threads to see if you can track him down? I remember a thread running if it is the same car about the wheels on it if that is any help.

Thanks for that - unfortunately it looks like the search on the forum only goes back a couple of years.
