Hello all,

I'm fed up with the nice little puddles of ATF on my garage floor so this weekend I'm going to replace my low pressure pas hoses. Do I need to bleed the system when I refill it, and if so how?

Cheers

Matt

Fill it up with PAS fluid. Start motor turn steering wheel from lock to lock several times. Check fluid level and top up if necessary. Basically it is self bleeding.

Hmmm - anyone know where I might be able to get some suitable low pressure pas hose? I thought I had something suitable in my garage but looking at it last night it's a bit tired looking.

Have a look on the Pirtek website for your local agent. You'll need two internal diameters, 1/2" and 5/8", IIRC the 1/2" is from the reservoir to the pump and the 5/8" is from the rack back to the reservoir. The hose spec is 100-R6 hose. Demon Tweeks do the 1/2" at £4.70/m and £7.14/m for the 5/8" hose (both plus vat) and Pirtek are usually cheaper.

You might also want to get some of the Pirtek "FJI Range hose Protection Fire Guard Sleeving" to put over the hose to prevent the exhaust affecting the hose in the long term, depending on have "belt and braces" you want to be.

Just called the Gloucester depot - they've got it all in stock and I can pick it up tomorrow morning.

Cheers!
