I've heard that most of these cars need an engine rebuild after about 60,000 due to a problem with the engine? I'm looking at a particular one which has had an relatively recent engine rebuild. What can I expect to be paying in terms of running costs as an everyday car?

thanks for any help

this is the motor i'm considering

Does the P1 have the DCCD drivetrain in it or the 50-50 +ABS setup? I'd take a DCCD car every time smile

If it is running 340bhp you are only going to get 20mpg at the very best (super unleaded only).

Its going to be very expensive to run, is the short answer.

I think the problem was with a dodgy map and a very dodgy oil pump. Most engines did indeed go bang around the 60k mark, so this one running to 80k before a rebuild is lucky. Give tsl a ring and see if they know the car first and foremost. Then get yourself over the the www.p1woc.co.uk for all the other info you'll need.
As stated, the car with that much in the way of mods will cost you more than a standard car to run.
I can't believe the guy has put his full address on the ad too, surely that's asking for it to be nicked in this day and age frown

look at the P1 in my profile for more info.

They are *not* cheap to run, but are generally reliable. The reason most went bang - mine at 40k - was that the mapping was wrong for UK fuel and you^ll find most have been rebuilt.

I^m starting to regret getting rid of mine honestly, and may well return to scoob ownersship sooner rather than later.
