Boring what bike thread...

Seems I can pick me up a bargain through work and Cycle Scheme.

Been out of the loop in terms of what's hot and what's not, but basically I'm after a do everything hardtail with hydraulic disks for about £700.

What are my options people?

Something like a Cannondale F4 nice light bike, good spec, and a frame worth hanging better components on at a later date.

There's a massive choice out there. Not an easy decision and a lot of people will obviously recommend their own stead.

Here's a few worth a look, but it'll come down to personal choice.

And take a look at Merlin Cycles based in Lancashire. Their Malt and Rock Lobster bikes get excellent reviews and you can pretty much spec the build how you want it.

Merlin would be great but I don't think they are involved with Cycle Scheme which is the only way I can make the purchase.

Cheers for the suggestions so far. I've always been a GT man but am partial to a Stumpjumper. I have heard you don't get a lot for your cash with them though.

I bought a stumpjumper HT comp through the cyclecscheme, superb bike and its costing me bugger all in reality!

Was just review the situation today.

I get a bike less VAT, income tax and national insurance, so a £700 bike would cost me £33 a month for a year - £400.

Alternatively a £1000 pound bike (or a £1000 bike + deposit of anything over a grand) would be £48 a month.

A no brainer really...

Always had a soft spot for chromium molybdenum too. P7's on the list.

I went to iBike in Crowthorne at the weekend who suggested a Gary Fisher Hoo Koo E Koo and a Kona Caldera but then couldn't find a 2007 in either spec. I'd rather find a '07 bike at a discount tbh.

Budget adjustment raises some interesting questions.

Highly recommended.

I love my P7 Pro to bits. Rides very light uphill and is fun on the way back down.
