Karcher foam lance if you need water pressure and are happy to mix shampoos. Gilmour is OK but not much kop if you have no pressure. It is more about the shampoo than the gun.

If you have a pressure washer already, then the same spend gets you the lance, and much more aerated foam, which should cling better to the car.
If you don't, and don't really fancy the hassle of a pressure washer, then the Gilmour is a good idea if lugging buckets around doesn't appeal.

You'll get much better foam from the Lance than the Gilmour. But getting the pressure washer out for a quick rinse can be a bit of a pain, which is where the Gilmour comes in handy. It'll still give a good clean with the right product. If you're feeling flush, get both.

I have both, use the Gilly at customer's houses when I don't take the pressure washer. Recently moved house and the wter pressure here is so poor that the Gilmour simply won't operate properly, the Karcher lance is of course unaffected.

i have the gilmour, and agree that the choice of shampoo makes a big difference, i have finally settled for meguiars hyper wash, just 2 or 3 'pumps' is enough for complete coverage of foam at maximum setting.

Try the Autobrite Snow Foam - think it's a fair bit cheaper than the Megs, but just as concentrated.
