Planning for the Future
Discussion
OK, it won't happen for a long while yet, but if I'm to have any hope at all of eventually owning TVR's last hurrah, I'll have to be prepared well in advance. Basically I need to have some idea as to the running costs and insurance costs for a Tuscan S, otherwise how do I know if I'm on "cloud nine"?
Also, in ten years' time, where do people see the prices of Tuscans going? Will they be as easy to afford as a Cerbera is now?
I've been in love with the Tuscan ever since I first saw it, I've dreamed of owning one, and I can't wait to be in a position to make that dream a reality. What I'm trying to gauge is how "real" I'm being...

I would look at profiles of cars on PH and see the running costs so you can make your own mind up. The previous owners of my car both spent an average of £400 a month to keep the car on the road. Some of it cosmetic, some not. If you have disposable income then go for it, if not buy a Chimaera. Also, in ten years' time, where do people see the prices of Tuscans going? i agree with softtop but if you're spending 400 quid a month to keep it on the road then you're either doing some serious mileage or something is seriously wrong. Leaving aside consumables like petrol, tyres etc, my Tuscan has been cheaper to run than my Audi A6 (mile for mile). The Tuscan is NOT a cheap car to run but that doesn't mean that it will be expensive - just that you have to accept that it might be.
To give you an idea of running cost:-
Running cost of my Tuscan MK1 This was over five & a half years and 28K miles.
Running cost of my Tuscan MK2 over the past year.
Insurance cost varies from person to person so I don't include this.
IMO Tuscans as all TVR's will be future classics.

I'm suprised - that's pretty good to be honest. I was expecting a lot more than £1,000 for servicing and repairs. I'll be buying used (obviously), so I'll be taking advantage of depreciation rather than suffering it.Running cost of my Tuscan MK1 This was over five & a half years and 28K miles.
