How many RV8 tasmin racers was made.
Discussion
I've only ever seen one RV8 tasmin racer for sale, that was listed as a seac, and it had a seac shaped body, I did talk to the owner and it may have been more of a bitsa, still sounded quite handy though..
Im not sure how many factory racers there were and I think Colin Blower built a couple in the early 80's
Other than that I've only ever seen one Rv8 tasmin on the track and thats micky holdens 350i with a seac nose cone...
SO in answer to your questions
a) erm not many..
b) I've only ever seen one for sale in the last 7 years..
I'd love to see a few more rv8 tasmins out there, but I think you'd have to build it yourself

Im fairly sure the 280 chassis is narrower. it can be done but i think its a lot of work ( moore racing did a v8 conversion in a road 280 and said it was a pita)
v8's in C is one of the areas in discussion at the moment, but the best v6 cars are producing about 200bhp, so the limit should be about the same ( although they v8's also have a torque advantage)
its a difficult balance between keeping the 20 or so v6 cars that are about competitive and slotting in some v8's
Your cheapest way in with out a doubt would be to pick up a prepped v6 car and run that for a year, there are some about at almost give away prices, less than the build and refurb costs of just a v8 engine !!!

300bhp oh yes thats deff class B...
have you considered a ford 302 v8 I understand thats an easier swap into a 280 chassis than the rover..
It one of the possibilities im looking at for my taz either a 24v v6 or a 302
most of the 280 racers were trailing arm rather than A-frame and had quite a lot of chassis and suspension mods, so it wouldnt just be a bolt on job to put the 280 race bits on a 350 chassis. you would need to mod the chassis.
If you send me a mail via my profile i'll give you my moby and I'll go though all the chassis mods we made to our car to make it handle and stop the chassis self distructing..

The issue with putting a RV8 into a 280i chassis is that the engine bay narrows down very sharply towards the transmission tunnel so it's very difficult to get an exhaust to work. I'm in the same boat as Graham at present trying to figure out what engine to replace the 2.8 V6 (in my Tasmin road car).
