Why is this race listed as provisional?

What's the rub, bub?

Usually something silly like Bernie had to queue for the toilet last time...or the teams don't want to cross the Atlantic for one race. TBH I probably saw the reason somewhere but forgot it in less time than it took me to read...

9 times out of 10 Canada is one of the most entertaining races of the season. It HAS to be on the calendar - please Bernie hurry up and die.

Without the American GP teams aren't that happy with having to trek out to Canada for a single race and then back to Europe.

Money - pure and simple.

The teams "trekked" to bloody South Africa in 1962 to do races when travelling those types of distances was much more difficult and costly than today.

Whether GPs appear on lists or not is ALL down to whther the circuits are prepared to pony up the exhorbitant amounts Bernie wants from them for the priviledge of hosting the race. The teams would travel to Antartica if they thought they would get the necessary dosh.

True, but your third paragraph answers your second.
They went to SA (and to Argentina, etc) because the teams were paid sufficient appearance money directly by the promoter.
