Just took delivery of some NGK Iridium IX spark plugs
and some Royal Purple oil (15/40). Switching over from Mobil 1 (15/50)
I would realy like to know anyone else who have changed over to the RP oil.
Richard Bros in Cornwall ( Top Chaps by the way thumbup )done a back to back test giving a extra 20bhp.
Will be changing over as soon as the Magnecor KV85 HTleads arrive.
Anyone using/used them along with the iridium sparkies?

20hp? laugh

From dropping from 50 to 40 grade? Pretty unlikely from my experience.

So, I take it you have not used it which would of answered my question.
No, I'm not waiting for the extra 20bhp out of my Cerbie from using it!
Can only report what was found on a back to back test on the rolling road @ Richard Bros.
So, is anyone (with a Cerbie) running on Royal Purple oil?
Anyone tried these NGK irirdiums?

I have seen a rolling road print for this oil after all fluids were replaced diff, box, engine, and there was nearly a 20 hp increase. However there are too many variables to consider, ie condition of old oil, air temp (tested first at mid day then in the evening) engine temp, The car tested was a 400hp 300zx tt so a 5% increase would equate a 20hp increase. IMO this is poss with any car that has old fluids and you would prob see an increase with most off the shelf oils. A good comparison would be to have a car with fresh mobil fluids and then refill with royal purple.

Still don't beleive it. Change all the fluids at once? How do you know where the improvements came from?

Really don't know how people can claim specific benefits from a RR. The only test results from an engine I would test are engine dyno numbers and motor friction curves (which would show you slightly more accurate results).

I know of some exhaust manufacturers that supply rear silencers for one make of car (not Cerb) that I know for a fact don't release any more power (due to engine dyno work I have completed) yet they claim a healthy 15hp from it.

The 300zx likes Iridum plugs, also as a twin turbo'd beast the variables are huge I can't see that a plug and fluid change would release 20 horses, unless the plugs were very knackered. The service interval on 300zx plugs is 40K if I remember correctly - I've got iridiums in mine and they are supposed to last 60K miles!!

No harm in changing the plugs and fluids as a matter of course anyway. yes

Tim

PS: I've got a 300zx so have been down the tuning route.
