CHANGING BRAKE PADS ON TUSCAN

Just bough a 2001 Tuscan, will need new brake pads soon, is it strait forward to replace the pads myself or will special tools be required. If any one has any info on this or has replaced pads on there car would love some info.

It dead easy to change the pads on this car, Just remember that you have to screw back the pistons as they will not push back. Gordon.

they are straight forward to replace,very similar to any normal brake caliper set up,you only need the normal tools

have you ever replaced an lcd display,mine works fine but the light has gone out making it difficult to see at night,any ideas.cheers

Only the rear pistons need to be screwed back, the fronts just push back.

Does anybody know if the pads are specific to TVR or are they carry over from Ford, Rover etc.??
What about the discs??

Rear pads are Ford Sierra, fronts are relevant AP fitment.

I know it says to screw them in. So is this clockwise as you look at it. Turning it alone seems to make no differrence. What am I doing wrong?

The rears - yes screw them clockwise when looking at them, ie standard right hand thread. You need to push as you turn.

The cylinders are not threaded (AFAIK). You need a brake wind back tool suitable for Ford Sierra/Granada amongst others. By 'winding' the cylinder back in, it simply rotates the piston in the seal, not against a thread. You can't simply turn the cylinder and expect it to wind back in, you need to apply force as well.

The thread is inside the piston as part of the handbrake brake self adjust mechanism.
