Spose I new it would get me sooner or later, read 200mph coming out of ASDA carpark, nice!!
Still got a few months warranty left, but a quick search on here has shown lots of people having the problem, but not what the problem/component actually is. Anyone know ?

You need the whole housing to be replaced.

sure someone way back said it was a voltage regulator problem on a pcb associated with the instrument cluster (dry soldered joint) or maybe my memory is malfunctioning

if thats the case which sounds possible should be an easish fix if you find yourself out of warranty or struggling with the bastards at the local service center that wont accept video evidence - they need the car to experience it themselves. Well for me 4 times in 8 months is too hit and miss to just let them have it that long!

mine is now 3 months out of warranty and yep you've guessed it I got 200mph at 800rpm sitting in a queue of traffic yesterday. Surely this should be getting covered by Vauxhall as its clearly a design or manufacture problem with the cluster?

This just happened to me on the way into work (04 CV8). Seems to spin round to 200mph while the car is at a standstill - meanwhile the digital speedo is working correctly. Stopped the car, switched the engine and ignition off, and all worked fine.

If Vauxhall don't want to cover these then if it is a dry solder joint I'm more than capable of fixing it myself - someone cares to point me in the right direction for the area to check on the pcb. Failing that I could just redo all the joints.

if you have a full service history mate it shouldnt be a problem, they done mine outside of warranty with no hassle really.

Happened again yesterday while at idle, so it needs sorting. Got about 3 months warranty left so hopefully wont be a problem especially if the whole cluster needs replacing.

I'll post when I get it done, but may be a while, off on honeymoon next week!!

Don`t do it, there`s still time.

Why buy a book when you work in a library.

hehe
