My frame is falling apart!
Discussion
While I was having a new clutch installed, my dealer told me my frame is cracked. If you pull back the rug cover in the back by the engine, each corner has a big bolt and nut you can see. This helps hold the body to the frame. Each one is totally broken apart. I took it to a good exotic repair shop today. They suggested I ask around if anybody has already created a part to fix this before they invent something. Any ideas?
Hi Skerd, do you mean rear chassis bolt fixture to the body like this?
I had the same problem but put it down to the PO doing some crappy levelling work in the car on the side affected causing it to crack. You will need to get it repaired asap before it stress fractures the rear body panels. As the car body is simply floating around now. Well not quite but you can see what the purpose is intented for.
If so I ground out the crack using a dremel, releveled the body using jacks and did a fibreglass job using a mix of carbon fibre and chopped strand mat. I have had two attempts at this as it is important to allow the body to remain flexible. If the repair is too rigid it will cause a stress point somewhere else. I just glassed around that part with a slight overhang, but should have glassed right the way up on each side.
Will see if I can pull out out my old pics that I posted a while back.
BTW....This is only one way of doing it, if someone else has a better way of fixing it, even better.

Hi,i got last year a problem with an noise which is coming from the middle of the car. After a few weeks i could locate where it comes from.I`ve used an endoscope and investigate every inch of the frame.I got four very small cracks around the hole for the shifter.I drilled these cracks at the end and welded it.I know (seriously) that most of the Esprit frames got cracks there. The reason for that is,that the frame is very soft and through the years they show cracks.
