We have been sat on this rig for a week waiting for them to pull casing and WOW. In the mean time we have built a networking website for people who work in the oil and gas industry. It is like bebo, facebook et al, but with the oil industry in mind.

It is non-profit and just for fun, obviously. there is no advertising or anything.
www.bananadrill.com

It is still very much in the beta stage, but the more people who sign up the better the future of the site will be. We have put offshore related videos up, and so can you. There is a forum and blogs. We are thinking we will add a section on the different towns and cities we all visit, like Aberdeen, Stavanger, Houston, Abu Dabi, etc.

So sign up with you support, and we will see where the thing goes.

Any comments or suggestions??

good idea mate.

looked into the same thing a few years back but didn't bother with it.
One thing I will say, is if you want some revenue for the site, without making it seem like advert central, make yourself a jobs section and go round all the recruitment agencies offering them discounted job advertising.

Bit of a thread high jack.

Do any of you guys/galls in the offshore industry know of a company, in the Glenrothes area, which sells surplus offshore clothing, waterproofs, safety gear etc ?

I see some of you that signed up haven't activated your accounts. Check your spam filters for the activation email. I had to mark bananadrill as 'not spam' so that it would go into my inbox.

Cheers,
Robbie
