Anyone have some advice about car covers and alarms? Mine seems to set the alarm off a couple of times during the night (never happens when the cover isn't on). I have a Tam and I know that the back plastic window is v. sensitive to any pressure applied to it so I am guessing that this is probably the cause when the cover gets blown around in the wind?

Thinking of propping up the back section by a small insert between roof panel and collapsible part to keep the cover from touching the back window.

Anyone had experience of this - could there be a different reason why the alarm keeps getting set off by the cover??

Thanks in advance. smile

Just found a thread where you can adjust the sensitivity. Anyone have an idea as to how long it would take to do?

If you suspect it is the roof setting the alarm off(I doubt it is) and it happens all the time why not just set the alarm with the micro off and see if it continues to happen?

Hi Ribol - tried that and the doors don't lock for some reason?

Turned down the sensitivity yesterday and seemed to work until about 5am this morning when it went off againfurious

Think that the high winds we had caught the cover and set it off so I am going to try and strap it down more securely and see if this makes a difference.

Does anyone know how much the dial can be screwed in the negative direction on the sensor? I presumed that turning it down so that the cut on the top of the screw lined up between the positive and negative ends?

My car has a Meta Alarm, it flashes twice when you set it and once when you turn it off. If when I set it instead of just pressing the remote button once I hold it down I then get three flashes. In this state the doors are locked, the micro is switched off, the rest of the alarm is as usual. How does that compare to your car?

If there is no option to isolate the micro you can easily get past that by temporarily cutting the trip wire, test car and then solder it back when tested.

Just turn the dial in the negative direction to the stop(position will vary on make of micro), you won’t damage it.
The early morning wake up call is sometimes caused by the state of charge of the actual car battery, is it fully charged or just nearly?
If happens when the temp drops it could also be a sign of a car battery on its last legs.

Thanks for the suggestions Ribol -

Unfortunately doesn't seem to work - I get the 3 flashes when I hold down the blipper but the doors don't lock for some reason.

Will try and turn down sensor further tonight. It is loads better than it was.

Doesn't happen at all when the cover isn't on. No alarm problems in the morning or at any other time (especially now that I have turned down the sensor). It just seems to be something with the cover that keeps setting it off?

Meta system does this with 3 flashes.

Microwave is off.
Alarm is on.
Doors are unlocked.

If doors are opened the alarm will go off.

I should probably delete myself at this point.
