LP640 now covered for three years

Lambo shows new confidence with Murcielago

Owning a 'Murcie' just became a whole lot more attractive, well if you can afford the £192,000 required to get yourself into an LP640 in the first place.

The 2008 Murcielago LP640 will be offered with a three- year unlimited mileage warranty. PH respects Lamborghini immensely for having the confidence in the product to offer unlimited mileage cover on such a hyper car, and by doing so they now offer the same warranty cover enjoyed by Gallardo owners.

The LP640 will also be offered with somewhere to plug in your iPod as an option, although quite why anyone chooses to listen to music with that V12 a few inches away from your ears is beyond me.

After hearing Dereks Gallardo on full chat with a tubi exhaust and decats I can safely say a stereo is pure dead weight in these cars. I'd love to hear the V12 version as the 5.0 V10 was one of the best sounds I've ever heard.

Yep can confirm ours came with three years warranty. Its gone into Lambo Manch today for its first service.

What they don't tell you about the Ipod connection is that its a £400 extra for a cable!! i prefer listening to the V12 anyway!

£400 for a cable???? What is so special about it? Is it 30ft long, gold and looped through parts of the car that require 3 hours labour to fit?!???

I guess it's for the interface to the iPod rather then just the connection, if you just wanted sound you could get a £5 cable from maplins that'll do the job on most cars. It's being able to control the tracks etc that's expensive

Good start but it is decent extended warranty's beyond the 3 year's at a reasonable price that will help resale values on both models.

You're taking the piss. It costs 190 large and you're patting them on the back for not telling customers where to go. Give me a break!

you have obviously never bought a Porsche in the UK - it says something when Lambo offer a better warranty than the most profitable car company in the world churning out products at 25% of that purchase price

We do have respect. A finely tuned handbuilt V12 that needs it's fair share of TLC with an unlimited warranty? So were I able to put 300,000 miles on one within my 3 years, they would still cover me? Thats VERY impressive. Less so on a Corsa 1.2 however......

Agree with you on the Porsche warranties though.

I was chatting to a sales executive at Graypauls in Notts who said that they are now giving a 4 year warranty as standard on a new F430. Makes the 2 year one on my 997 seem extremely tight to say the least.

Garlick - were you talking to me or robinoz? I am with you and disagreeing with robinoz, good on Lambo for doing this and it is a credit to their product. Makes Porsche's 2 year warranty even more disgraceful IMHO. Even TVR went to 3 years, how many makes still only offer 2 year warranties?

Fezza warranties are great till you check the exclusions.. ie. all moving parts, is only just overstating it.

Did you read the breakdown of running costs for a Murciélago in this month's Evo? Servicing, consumables and depreciation came to £135,224 over 34 months and 44,658 miles, or just over £3 a mile! And that's not including petrol at 10mpg for 44,000 miles! I think if you can afford to run it then unless it's a huge warranty claim it's unlikely to make a huge difference overall... Still, kudos for their confidence. smile

Great to see a company have such faith in their product when it's of the nature the LP640 is, especially given lambo's not too distant reputation for "occasional" lack of reliability.
Certainly seems like they've come a long way with the Murci and Gallardo under the VW influence in terms of nailing reliable super/hyper cars together.

The cable is digital not analogue, so all interfaces can be used etc. But - £400? The Lambo at the Geneva had a BMW style USB slot for memory cards tho - sorta makes the cable defunct!
Good on em with the Warranty. Is it Manufacturer or Dealer backed for the 2nd year?
