Hi all

Looking at an early 360, one for sale at a specialist (not a Ferrari main dealer)

Part of the deal would be that they get it serviced at Ferrari (its due) It has a full Ferrari service history.

What type of warranty (if any) can be put on a car of this age ? I dont fancy running any 360 without some kind of safety net.

Cheers.

not sure you'll get a power wrrnty at all, even if the car has full ferrari history. there are also probs obtaining an extended official wrrnty- ferrari arent issuing any due to fsa issues. you might get another after mkt one elsewhere but i've not get any experience with them

warranty wise offered me a policy for approx £1500 on my 03 575,but with a max claim limit of £5000 .in the end decided to take my chances.

is that 5k per claim , or 5k per year total?

Try the AA, I had that with a 10k per claim limit, and RAC breakdown as part of it.

It's actually underwritten by the RAC funnily enough.

Elms has the details, maybe he could post them.

Thanks - will the incomplete service history be an issue for getting a warranty? While its not been serviced on the dot every 12 months, its had all the major services, including 2 (will be 3) belt changes (one will be done before I collect it)

Crack on and buy it. There is no real problems with these cars. If you can afford to buy it and put aside some cash for running and maintenance you'll be fine.

Cant see the point of spending £1500 for £5k of cover. On top of this they are likely to exclude anything thats likely to fail.

The cars are generally well engineered and with a good inspection you should be fine. Worst case you are £3.5k worse off if something drastic does happen but even £1.5k goes along way to sorting out most issues if you use a specialist.

Not really a warranty issue ... My opinion has always been that these warranties obviously make the underwriters a profit. Therefore, whilst its nice to have the security, chances are it will cost you more than you claim for. The 360 is generally a well sorted, striong car. This has a nice mileage and all probs should have been sorted. As for the service history, i saw a low mileage car at a main dealers a while back, which had missed a couple of annual services. The dealer was obviously offering a Ferrari warranty on the car, and was adamant that the missed couple of services were unimportant as far as the car's history goes. Whether this was the same discussion he had with the seller was not made clear !!

The warranty covers wear and tear items ?? And what has been done to the F1 ECU? Surely being outdated is not covered by a warranty? If so, you should claim the car is outdated and get them to supply a 430....

i havent had a claim turned down yet so i guess it does. as for f1 , the cs software is fine but early cars did suffer from eating clutches and those under wrrnty had the upgrade.

OK thanks all - will investigate 3rd party warranties.

This 99 car has had a new clutch at 10k miles - so perhaps right about early F1 cars eating clutches.

I would have a full check done on the car before buying it, plus a major service, so shoudl be OK.

Any suggestions for a 3rd party warranty (ie not a Ferrari extended or Power warranty?)
