v8s gives griffs a shock

my v8s went on the rolling road at the griff growl yesterday and turned them over with a reading of 276 bhp and 221 lbs of torque at 5600 revs i know i am showing off but i just cant resist it.thanks to richard at dulford automotive she is apparently as tight as a drum.

The only downside is now listening to all those Griffs and playing with Keith and his Sagaris is that I've either gotta change my motor or upgrade the exhaust to something louder.

Oh well, next time maybe. Having great fun in mine, it just gets better and better the more it gets driven. Not looking forward to winter coming and less driving hours.

Ended up yesterday at the TVRCC w/mids & warwickshire meet after a really good drive with the boys, as usual it was the only S but got a definite for its condition and do believe it will be in the Sprint magazine next issue.

Keifs Sag does sound awesome doesnt it? mine is off to Gugliemis (sp?) next week for a custom made exhaust and a few bits and bobs.

Not sure of the article Matt, have joined TVRCC though, you should come along to the meet every 3rd Sunday of the month in Meriden, its a good turn out. I'll send you a copy when I know.

That seems very high bhp for relatively low torque? My chim puts out 290bhp with 320ftlb torque at same rpm. Thought torque and bhp were related? 1/5600 * rpm * torque gives bhp or something similar??
Anyone able to explain!!

You're right, torque and power are related and the figures quoted by the OP don't add up if you assume the torque and power are measured at the same revs. However, you'd normally quote peak power and peak torque and these will occur at different revs.

Very good article in this months CAR magazine explaining what torque is all about, relationship to bhp etc.
Bhp is basically a multiple of torque and rpm, which I didn't really understand till I read it, and if torque and bhp cross on a graph it will always be at 5252rpm !
