Alloy Wheel Refurbisher - Cambs?
Discussion
Are they the alloys off the VXR on your profile, out of interest?
Is that a powdercoat finish on them? and do they need refurbing because of kerbing (etc) damage, or because the original finish is failing and corroding off the wheel?
Makes a difference to the repair process, and hence who to recommend...

I am a muppet and cant park. Herbert Street curbs are HUGE.Speaking with my neighbour this morning, he is looking for wheels to be refurbished. No actual damage to wheel, but over time salt and wet etc has got under the laquer and started to corrode the alloy, and as a consequence the wheel looks untidy.
Is this something that you can do Anatol? or is there anyone you can recommend near to Soham.
Cheers.
Nigel.

Yes, unless they're turned alloy and he wants them restored to that finish (which means putting them back onto a lathe, which we can't do in house).
Likely work required will be a chemical strip of the existing finish, followed by a full recoat (paint, effect paint (including chrome) or powdercoat all possible).
It's more complicated and takes longer than simple kerbing refurbishment, but when the old finish is delaminating, there's no point in repairing over the top of it. It requires wheels off the car, and at the very least breaking the bead, and full tyre removal and later refit and balance for powdercoating.
I don't know of anyone in or near Soham, but several companies aside from us will do a mobile service - alloyambulance.co.uk (based in St Neots) do a same day on-site service for painted wheels, wicked wheels do a send-away and recoat service where I think they collect from you (they may need the wheels for up to 3 weeks though).

Thanks for the response, The wheels are on a Ford People carrier type vehicle, so don`t think he is looking for anything specilalised, but just wants to get them back looking tidy.
Thought of you, as fairly local to you.
Is it worth me giving him your number? or should he contact one of the companies mentioned.
Cheers.
