Hi, I've got a slightly upgraded 5.2l Griff with 17" front wheels, 18" rear with low profile tyres. I'm considering changing to spider wheels but don't know which sizes would be best for my car without loosing to much stability. Does anybody know if there are 17" and 18" spider wheels available, if they would fit the Griff? They do look the biz.....so I must have..., also need a hub conversion set for these which is another hard to get item as well. I'm not UK resident, via internet very hard to find. Any help or advise where I could buy these awesome looking wheels is very much appreciated.

Spiders are only available in 16 " or 18 ".
Hub conversion is not that hard to find.

Silverstone Performance do a set of spiders for the Griff: http://www.silverstoneperformance.biz/ - you may be able to get them to ship a set to you.

Silverstone don't do Spiders, they do their own brand called SP12s.

Have you any pics of your old wheels - looking to upgrade the stock five spokes on my 450 BV Griff to a 17/18 combo.

Nicest non-standard wheels i've seen on either a Griff or Chimaera are the 17" Ford RS wheels, looks just like the later ones, but fill the arches that little bit better and don't look too 'boy racer'. They go direct onto the hubs too :-

Hello Bastian

Have you spoken to Hans Daalhuizen of the dutch TVR-CC? He sold some Spiderconversions in Holland.
His email is hamada@planet.nl

Cheers Jens

look for zztop on here in the members section.

he had the first set of 18 spiders on a Griff. the factory said the wouldn't fit rolleyes

sorted car too so I can vouch for the fact that they'll handle!

You can get much lighter wheels, I only got spiders for the brakes TBH (and £1400 from the factory was a too much of a bargain to resist really wink ).

Silverstone Perfomances wheels are quite light IIRC. There have also been quite a few moans about buckled 18" spiders... Converting to 5 stud prob makes it harder to get alternate wheel fittings anyway?

All, thanks for the help...... Must say the black spiders have the looks. Would 18" without power assist be a problem? I'd love a set of Antrachite spiders under mine....... Yes Simon I know I have to stop spending money on this monster but it so bloody tempting. Roof is in hand.....a specialist will change it for me.

I don't have PAS but the car is set on nitrons and like Mr Monster says, "Handles like a dream".
Richard Smith at Dulford Automotive fitted mine and engineered the hubs. It did take a while to get the car set up properly so I do suggest you speak to a specialist. Perhaps Rich may be able to help you as he has my settings logged. zz top
