I have a slight (but getting bigger) chip where a door has probably hit the passenger door on my Chim.

How am I best to get it sorted before it gets any bigger?

Cheers

I will look them up. Approximately how much do they charge? The scratch is probably in an area 2cm x 2cm if that matters.

I asked Chipsaway for a quote but they were very reluctant to take on the job because it was a TVR. Even though mine is a pretty standard colour they were not confident of doing the job well, they wanted some paint first to test against before they would proceed. I left it..........

I have some nose scratches on mine and took to chipsaway - they also wouldn't touch it because it is a TVR. Colour is halycon atlantis.

My local chipsaway guy wouldn't do the chimaera (due to it bing GRP) - wouldn't do the range rover (as it's Aluminium) couldn't do my girlfriends corsa because the dent was in the wrong place(!) so I ended up going to a local bodyshop they sorted them all out. bounce

Took the local chipsaway guy in Romford 3 attempts to do the nose of my Griff. Not sure he would ever touch another one. If you have a chip midway up the door there is no chance they will do it, next to impossible to blend the paint without spraying the entire door.

I have to say my local Chips Away guy (Paul Corrigan, Sheffield) was excellent. He worked hard to source the paint colour correctly on the Chim and did a spotless job on a nasty palm-sized scrape on the front wing. It looks like the Chips Away franchise needs to brush up on its consistency.

Was looking to get a door done. Standard Rover colour apparently. But said they would have to take the door off and the mirror off and to blend it with the other panels. £360.. Think they were trying to pull a fast one because it was a TVR, but still yikes

You should give Gary at BeeGee Coach Craft a call. He does the whole lot from GRP repairs to spray jobs and does a fantastic job - I speak from experience :-(

He's also very reasonable to the point of people questioning how he can do it so cheap compared to other places. I reckon he just keeps his costs to a minimum and enjoys what he does! Give him a call - you won't be disappointed.

Oh - forgot to mention that he's at New Malden just off the A3 in SW London so not far from you in West Sussex.

Cheers,
James

My local chips away guy did some work on my car no problem at all. Blended some Imperial blue with extra gold and red fleck and it was spot on. Maybe some of them are just pants.

Just had a quote from a famous TVR repairer for a door respray £300 plus VAT. Yes they do have to take the door off.
