Tracker required?

My new Tuscan is currently sitting in the production line at Blackpool 
but Privilege are telling me that I need to fit a tracker system to it even though I'm going to keep it garaged overnight. 
Does anyone have any experience with trackers? or alternatively an insurer who doesn't require one (at a reasonable cost)

I've been looking at Tracker type systems recently. The best one that I have found and will be fitting after Christmas is SkyNet from Skamp (www.skamp.co.uk). It has apparently got the best track record but something I havent found out yet is whether its Thatcham approved which is the important thing.

My insurers insist on this too. I asked for an explanation and was told that 65% of prestige car thefts are from the owners' premises and are "with key" thefts (so don't leave them within site of doors or windows !)so leaving the car in the garage or on the drive is neither here nor there. The tracker fitting took 4 hours on the Porsche and left no trace other than the window stickers. The fitters don't even tell you where they've fitted the device.
The tracker cost £299 plus a £299 subscription to the service for the duration of your ownership. If your car is stolen you contact Tracker and the police. Police cars and helicopters are equipped with a tracking device and find the car (unless your in Notts. in which case they pansy about taking statements for 50 mins, buy which time your car's in a crate on the way to the docks. Grrr.) A uniformed guard then waits with the car until the AA come to pick it up.
There is also a £434 setup whereby the car's movements are monitored 24/7 and the device pages you if the car is moved-you can then contact the police.
If they say get a "Tracker" get a "Tracker," I looked at the other systems-good on paper, but lacking in Police approval/support.

I ended up just getting the Tracker for my Tuscan, although it took them 2 attempts to find somewhere to put it!
It does seem to work though - when the car went back to the factory on a low-loader they proactively phoned me to tell me it was being moved without the ignition on, and was this OK?

Seems like there are two Tracker systems, Retrieve £299 and Monitor £459 plus £99.99 p.a. Retrieve needs you to spot the car has been stolen and report it to the police who will then 'track' it. Monitor incorporates a movement detector which alerts the Tracker network who contact the owner ......
Alternative could be NavTrak, see www.navtrak.com Again, two levels Standard £449 plus £225 for 2 years and Proactive £499 plus £335 for 2 years. Similar facility to Tracker but includes a driver information service via your (handsfree) mobile for current traffic information on your proposed route and detailed directions near your destination etc.

I don't see the need to bother that much with a tracker as:
I imagine(correct me if people are aware otherwise)stolen TVRS are relatively few and far between as, the market is very small dealers would spot a stolen car if it went for service etc. They are just too obvious a car.
That aside Sunninghill have proved the cheapest consistently with me and there policy is good. It is with Royal Sun Alliance and includes trackday cover and full European breakdown.

Nice to know that someone is keeping an 'eye' on yer pride and joy and yes I've had a phone call from Tracker when sitting inside the AA truck, shows they work! Only slight prob I've had is on a Landcruiser when they would phone everytime I drove it for a few weeks. Soon sorted.
