Aircon as supercharger
Discussion
Just to prove how dull I am, is an aircon pump the same as a small roots blower? If so, what is the cfm of the 4.5 aircon pump and how fast would it need to run to be an effective super charger.
Assumming it would need to run way beyond its design rpm it would need some form of lubrication system and would overhead and die anyway.
Just a mad idea. Don't flame me too bad!
Hold on, it gets better! A full throttle microswitch could be wired to the air con clutch and an Emerald ECU with two maps, one for supercharged, one without. Thus, during normal driving the engine would run uncharged, then, hit the throttle, charger and map cuts in and off you go!
Please discuss.

Tesla and others run on batteries, latest battery technology is achieving much
2 bar is more than 29 PSI
I don't doubt the pump can produce 2 bar. I just doubt your cerb can produce the necessary 600A.!! Tesla and others run on batteries, latest battery technology is achieving much

Yes your bang on with the high current consumption
That above supercharger is a load of bks, it's drawing more than a twin starter motor system
You make a good point
Still good though innit, would be great for a bit of fun using it for several seconds every 20 minutes or so, mmmm maybe not
I don't own a cerb, simply try and help fixing electrical issues or in this case cause one big one
I once thought about using a high reving 125cc bike engine to drive a supercharger.
Plenty of room in front of the engine. You could adjust the boost by adjusting the revs of the bike engine
have a throttle cable connected to the accelerator pedal so it follows the Cerb engine. Not as mad as it sounds as the fuel, cooling system, electrics are all there in the engine bay. Mad may be, but a better than a 600amp electric charger. Probably ruin the Cerb sound track though.
Eventually opted for a more traditional route.

Great idea, get it on the marketPlenty of room in front of the engine. You could adjust the boost by adjusting the revs of the bike engine

reminds me of this... a supercharger ontop of a V8 driving a fuel pump to supply fuel to the main engine....
thinking of alternative methods for getting boost for a car engine ?
compressed air tanks charged by an air compressor during normal driving, and when required those air tanks being used to supply extra air
or as said before a small displacement engine used to drive a fan to supply air as and when required ?
fine in theory but is all the theory fully understood, how much hp is required to prodiuce the required air pressure for the engine ?
