Passenger door mechanism anyone?
Discussion
Anyone out there have a passenger door mechanism for a 400se they'd like to exchange for some beer tokens?
My passenger door decided to open all by itself again earlier today (first time day after wedgefest).
I have had a good look at the mechanism and can't fault it but I guess it must be failing somewhere?
I'd rather play safe and chage it anyway rather than risk the door flying open again and damaging the door or hurting someone in the process.
Cheers,

One of the door on my T350 did that ..
You can check it by pushing hard (shoulder) on the side panel of the door .. if it springs open then .. it's not right.
Also check the larch mechanism - 2nd position (door fully closed position) does not come undone easily .. I use a screw driver for this with the door open.

Panic over - all sorted
The first time this happened, I examined the locking mechanism and couldn't fault it so I (wrongly) assumed that that the door couldn't have been closed properly in the first place. As this was the second time this had happened, I knew there had to be a problem.
I sat in the passenger seat and closed the door. I then barged the door with my shoulder, but it wouldn't open. Next I stood outside the car with window down and door locked (same conditions it came open by itself) and pulled the door around trying to open it without actually operating the door handle. I found if I tugged the door upwards, the door catch rode over its retaining pin in the door pillar and the door opened!
After looking more closly, there was only about 1mm where the catch caught over the retaing pin.
A simple fix though - I simply slacked the 4 screws that keep the retaining pin keep-plate on the pillar and tapped it up a few mm with a small hammer, Tightened all screws again and now everything fits nice and snug.
I then re-tried to open the door by pulling the locking catch over the retaining pin and it wouldn't open. Sorted.
Many thanks for the few emails and phonecalls offering replacement catches.
