Page 18 in this weeks Autocar, half page item.

Al Melling is launching a 170mph, front engined two-seater sports car, designed to replace the TVR Griffith. Called the Melling Griffon, similar in size to the Griffith and to be powered by a further developed, 460bhp 4.7 litre version od Melling`s AJP8, the flat crank, two-valve V8 he designed in the early 1990s. Production of 300-400 units a year and priced close to £50,000.
The article also shows a photo of what the new car will look like.
Should make its debut at the Autosport show at NEC next January.

Looks like a Griffith with a few unnecessary creases and a big mouth added - impossible to trump the 90s Griffith IMO.

Have you seen the quoted weight quoted on melling sportscars site?

2420 "units" (presumed kg)

What's it made from? lead? rolleyes

Yep, the numbers must be out - 3.6 to 60, 480 bhp and yet 218bhp/tonne silly

2420 lbs does indeed translate into a metric tonne (give or take a couple of kgs) But this means the power to weight is still wrong.

This sort of mistake is hardly inspiring - it makes me doubt all the other measurements.

To be fair to you though the site does give a US address as that's clearly where he sees his market.

I quite like it, brings the original design up to date without copying it too much, it seems to have a roll bar too which is good. As for being a better looker that's stupid, the old Griff was perfection.

If you try and think of a modern car that can tick as many boxes as the Griff and Chim did then you can see there is a gap in the market.
