(don't think anyone is impressed with Matt Jackson - i raced with him way back in 1999 in Formula Honda - didn't think much of him then )

Neal Snr has a very short memory when it comes to remembering incidents Neal Jnr has caused.

Couldn't agree more!! See my post in BTCC Brands thread http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/topic.asp?h=0... and the guy who's defending Jackson like it's going out of fashion - his one supporter!

Assume this is talking about the first race incident - hard to blame Jackson for being an opportunist, I reckon any one of them would have tried the same move in the same circumstances. I reckon Neal's stupid lunge into Plato at Riches off the start (at the last weekend, Snett) was much worse and could well have had similar consequences. Neal seems to have a very short memory. It seems Plato is a bit better this year (probably because he has a championship to think about) but Neal is still an arsehole.

way out of order

Plato has got the best car by a long shoot
I know both of them and believe me Plato is such an arrogant tosser - high and mighty attitude. Matt's a good guy - yep he's had his moments of "disengage brain" but off track he's a nice bloke and i rather race alongside Matt than Plato any day

I have to say I was quite impressed with Jackson. Always liked Neal, and Plato has been much better this year. I always disliked him, but then I thought hey, this guy makes the racing more interesting and actually goes for it! We like to see this, but at least its not as bad as some of the moves attempted last year.

Loving the season, touring cars is taking over from f1 for me smile

Matt Neal may well be a 'good guy' and FWIW I've met him and he came across as one - that doesn't stop him driving like a tt and then always whining that 'so and so needs to learn to drive' when he's dishing out the same on a weekly basis!

Personally I think the race officials should be stepping hard on anyone who thinks 'rubbing' to put someone in the gravel or bashing someone in front off the track is an acceptable overtaking manouevre (sp?) - that applies equally to Plato and Matt Neal.

As far as Jackson - possibly a rash move but once he was out on the slippery stuff he had no chance to recover things. Likewise Neal had not a lot of chance to avoid him and the big pile-up was inevitable. Looked like a racing incident to me and just 'one of those things'.

I think people should give Mat Jackson a break. Racing incident (albeit an expensive one!)

I bet Mat isn't the only driver who has lost it at Paddock Hill in the wet over the years....

Neal snr is always and has always spouted off and has an over inflated opinion of himself - much more so than Plato. U dont see Jackson snr or any of the team spouting of like school kids!

Jackson is a really talented driver, ok he made a mistake but didnt take anyone off on purpose. Unlike shedden who clearly should have been penalised and as for Giovanardi on Jordan well....

Exactly what I think, he may be the nicest bloke in the world away from the track but he is the biggest hypocrite out there.

Very few people in the paddock have a high opinion of Steve Neal. Most like Matt though.

Opinions seem divided on Plato. I just think he's a good driver on top of his game right now. He's matured immensely since 2001.

I thought that Mat Jackson's move wasn't actually that bad, but then I didn't think Giovanardi's hit on Jordan was anything other than a racing incident either.

Saw the incident several times as I had the races recorded on PVR. It's a racing incident and Neal gets involved at the end of it. Jackson was unlucky especially as Later Turkington has a similar incident and gets away with it. Neal on the other hand has had a few incidents where he has "leaned" on other cars deliberately and got away with it. Pot, kettle and black come to mind. Plato and Giovanardi seem to be having fun this year. Perhaps because Neal isn't part of the title chase.
