Had the remap and catbacks done to the car before i took delivery so dont really know how noticable that difference was. Considering the headers next - loved the noise on a headers equiped car i test drove once - will the performance increase be noticable or is it really all about the noise. Its a lot of cash just for a fantastic noise....

maybe ask for some before and after dyno's. On a stock engine you are not going to get masses. catback is the bottleneck. Plus tune. Diminishing returns from there on. Unless something more serious in the future is planned!

For CV8s I think they are. As the VXR already have HSV headers I think the gain is minimal. If you want to supercharge or heads & cams then I think they are a must.

6.0 cars ad cast manifolds not tubular headers. 5.7 VXR's had the headers.

Cheers. I rember reading the the HSV had better headers but wasn't sure how much better the wortec upgrade was. So they are a must with the S/C? I thought the VXR 500 came with Cat Back only?

Thinking about it, dont the headers come sports CATS? Is that where they claimed extra 20hp comes from?

Sorry Brian just read your post. Are you saying that the improvement is material for the 6lVXR?

With the sport cats, and wortec headers there are noticible benefits in terms of power and more importantly torque. It also fattens the curve as it comes in higher earlier and the sound pays for itself.

OIC - ta. Mines a LS1 hence the HSV headers!

Right. New door handles, new electric seat mechanism and a set of headers then please. I'll give Kevin a call.

Mine's an 06 CV8, does that mean I have the rubbish headers? How much are they and what are the options, can I get some custom made, should I get the Wortec headers or perhaps get some from the GTO? I don't think I'll need them but I'd be interested in the prices and options?

This is quite interesting: www.hsv.org.uk/topic.asp?h=27&t=353899&r=5094942&hm=27545

I posted a before and after dyno here

Nice gains but don't expect it to totally transform your car.

Noise is a definite bonus!

Think I'll stick with the Supercharger + Cat-back, the exhaust is loud enough and I've just seen what Wortec charge for the headers - I'm in the wrong business!

really need the headers with a supercharger as the stock ones become a limiting factor. you don't need to buy wortec - you can get a nice coated stainless set from Oz for around 5-600 + carriage and tax. Try shop about and get a set complete with the sports cats+pipes to join to exhaust. cats can be had from US for around 80 quid each. US GTO spec headers are generally no use as they are shaped to fit past the steering rack and obviously the Yanks have it on the wrong side.

will post when I get to a decent internet connection. Our BT line at work isn't allowing access to a lot of sites at the moment at more than 1k/sec. This is one of the few I can currently get on and I'm the network manager with priority over the traffic!!

Scott @ Capa offered to sell me 2 x sets of 4:1 stainless hpc coated performance headers for $2000 AUS + 390$ carriage to UK so around 1000 quid before tax/duty. That was a couple of months back so I'd check current pricing with them. Single set was around 1200$ iirc assume carriage would be a bit cheaper. Group buy anyone?

Introduces the usual issues about warranty cover on a nearly new (in warranty terms)car....

warranty - not sure anyone's headers are covered by Vauxhall warranty. Wortec obviously warranty their product and being UK based should the headers "fail" it would be simple to have them repaired/replaced by one of their dealers. I did get a quote on the Wortec headers for my cv8 and with cat pipes - this was for supply only mind - I was quoted around 1700, 1000 of which was for the headers iirc. I believe LSV offer the mild steel version of the Capa headers for around 750-800 if you want a UK dealer warranty.
