hoping for a bit of helpful diagnosis - car's been fine, with the usual infrequent check engine light that disappears the next day. Currently no engine light, but acceleration is quite jerky, esp. from low revs. At idle with no throttle the engine sounds like it's stuttering for a split second.

Will be booking in for a check-up, but any pointers welcome...

Maybe run the throttle pot reset procedure before paying for a check-up, see if that makes a difference? (and check aircon is off on idle)

thanks for that, reset procedure has got it a little more settled, but I'm using this as motivation to finally pin down if the Alfa (GTV V6 24V) part is equivalent, and track down part numbers & prices for the throttle pedal potentiometer and related engine throttle body component, as I guess Bosch supply the whole lot

will post fruits of my search as it looks like a common question for 3200s

No, Bosch do not make both parts. The throttle body is produced by Magneti Marelli (aka Weber Marelli) and the Maserati POT is Bosch part number 0 280 752 029. Many have tried to cross reference the Maserati POT with Alfa after insisting they are the same but always without success.

As for the TB, just think about it - What alfa produces 370 bhp? None and nowhere near so a cross match is not really possible is it?

Hope this helps

Thanks Nigelo, yes it does help a lot! The Bosch part number nails that question, and glad to settle this one that's been bouncing around for what seems like ages.

Good luck with the fault, remember that interconnects are just as likely the cause as the main components. Check and clean the related connections before spending big money on replacement parts, particularly on intermittent faults.

Suspect that many cars with expensive parts replaced under warranty could be fixed this way. Wonder how many replaced throttle pots and MAF sensors would prove faulty on a bench test? In aircraft avionics very few replaced components reproduce their fault during bench tests.

all good points, consider myself lucky in having a local (non-specialist) garage that are very trustworthy, and an official Bosch-approved agent. For peace of mind with such safety critical components I don't mind erring on the side of caution, will hang onto old parts to pass onto whoever the lucky next owner may be, and if it's a fair price (i.e. not paying an extra wedge for a box with a Trident stamp on it) then all positive

My local friendly neighbourhood garage is a member of the Good Garage scheme, based on my experience (of one of them admittedly) I'd recommed them, and interested in anyone else that's had experience (good OR bad) of other affiliates
