Heres a few that i took on Sunday of the Mini Show at Santa Pod - highlight being the jet car. Comments welcome still just beginning trying to improve.
Spent ages trying to take some tracking shots - none of them came out. any tips?

If you post an example of a shot that didn't come out I'm sure people will be able to advise you on what wasn't right smile

Weather was a bit crap was interesting standing behing the Jet Car when it chucked out clouds of white smoke couldnt see a thing lol

Is all that smoke popping and banging just for show or is it warming up the jet or something?

Not hugely up on jet engines but I believe the banging is the after burner. I'm sure a lot of it must be for show. We did have a chuckle when we saw everyone in the grandstand engulfed in smoke! laughlaugh

Hi Kevin,

Panning shots are a sod to get right - i've always done it like so:

a)Select 'shutter priority' and a shutter speed of 1/250th
b)Set focus mode to 'Continuous'
c)Focus on vehicle as it rounds the bends/comes over the brow
d)As it moves past you, move with it, both before and after you press the shutter

As I say, they're a sod and i've never practised enough to get particularly good at them wink

Hope you and Sarah are well.

Regards

Dave
PS I like the first shot you posted - would look cool in black and white with the contrast whacked right up! smile

Like This?

Dont think my camera has continuous focus seems to set the focus and exposure when you press the shutter half way. Have the same problem taking pictures of the dog, as hes running towards me by the time the cameras set and you press the shutter hes moved a bit so the focus is on a patch of grass slightly behind!

We're both doing well how are you? like the look of the new site design
