I'm quite keen on a 335i coupe, there a plenty of used examples available from BMW around the early £30k,for example;

dec 2006 335i coupe auto with leather, 5300 miles, good colour, fairly basic spec but enough for what i need.

Based on the bmw car configurator list price was £37,000, asking price £30,995.

Everybody seems to talk of 10% discounts on new BMW, bearing this in mind, what do you think i should offer for the above mentioned car without being laughed out of the showroom (based on a cash purchase)

rock up with exactly £30k bulging out of your pockets (metaphorically), find the youngest salesman, sit at his desk, point to the car you want and say " i'll buy that car, now, for 30k, if you come back to me with any other price/opportunity to test drive/ finance options, i'll walk out of the building - go and sort it out sonny. biggrin

best time to do this is late on sunday, say 3.30pm.

assuming its not sold.

Wrong. If you're picking on the youngest salesman in the dealership he won't be able to budge on the price without speaking to the Used Car Sales Manager. If you want the deal done quick UCSM need sto be on the premises. Anyone with the word manager in their title has earned the right not to be in the dealership at 3.30 on a Sunday afternoon.

It's taken as read that you can knock £1k off any AUC BMW priced over £20k.

I'd go for £1.5k off at least.

(Wait until near the month end when they're hungry to hit targets.)

Glasses quote £29k for an 06 56 335i SE Auto Coupe

Bearing in mind the AUC rice the dealer will have paid, I'd be aiming for that as a starting figure.
