Hello everyone, this is my first post and have spent a few weeks lurking and reading through old posts. As the title suggests, I'm considering getting myself a Cerb (most likely a 4.5) towards the end of the year and plan to be a very 'hands on' owner as an increasing number of owners seem to be.

I have noticed that the master/slave cylinder problem seems to one of the more common issues to crop up and wanted to know if any speacial tools are required to swap out the clutch and slave cylinder. I have never changed a clutch on any car by the way but am confident enough to try such a job if armed with a decent writeup of the job, such as the clevor trevor guide.

To give you an idea of the kind of stuff I have done using only writeups and without previous experience my last car was a Toyota Supra Twin Turbo. The kind of jobs I did on that were;

installed coil over suspension
Installed front mount intercoller, as well as replacement rad and AC condenser
Installed a mocal 16 row oil cooler
installed Racelogic traction control
Installed apexi boost controller and performed the necessarry setup for injector duty cycles etc to get the desired boost
as well as the usual basic servicing stuff.
This gave me a rolling road confirmed 400 ish bhp which I was obviously pleased with.

In view of this do you think I'd be ok with most of the other common issues on a cerb, i.e throttle pots, various electrical gremlins and so on. I'm based in yorkshire so the nearest specialist is TrackVRoad, I think.

Anyway, I'll leave the rest for future posts as I written quite enough for my first post.

Many thanks.

Ok, maybe my first post was a bit wordy.

What I'd like to know is, has anyone without previous experience of changing a clutch managed to change it on a Cerb. (AJPV8).

TIA

I'm certainly no expert, but I reckon a Cerb is easier to work on than any Toyota.

Cool, so do you do a lot of your own work when possible.

I know that running these cars can be a little 'pricey' and intend to have 3k set aside as soon as I buy one, however, I enjoy working on my cars and learning as much as possible about them.

In the meantime I'll continue going through all the relevant old posts and learn all I can.

Cheers.

Good, sounds promising, not a mechanic are you?

Looks like the search for a cerb is on then. Although I've now started reading lots of 'body off' threads and all that that involves.

Assuming you have the tools/equipment/space is a body off more or less difficult that a clutch change?

Cheers.

Search is your friend biggrin

There have been detailed photo reports of a couple of body-off restorations.

Yes I know, I've been using it for weeks and found loads of info, infact, the search button on this forum just stopped working.

I got a messgae saying that the there has been an error and that the technical team has ben informed, hope it wasn't caused by me using it so much!!!

Cheers everyone.smile
