"Yahoo!" is the first expression I can think of! Many thanks go to Bernie and Bruce - the TVRCC track day coordinators. Well organised is what I say!
The sun always shines in God's County (that's Yorkshire to the rest of us) and yet again we did the visitors proud. In fact it may have been too hot, says he sitting here with sunburn.
The sky remained clear and so did the track. I’ve never seen so few cars on a track! It was like having your own private day. Now this is great news for us, those who venture out onto the track, but bad news for TVRCC. The track doesn’t lose by having so few attend, as the club pays no matter what. We, the club, lose though, as the day made a loss. Why - I don’t know. Maybe you could feed back why you didn’t fancy this? Too far North? Too close to Le Mans? Or have track days just no appeal to you post Sept 11th, in this all too risky world? Whatever the reason please feed it back to the track day coordinator as he needs to know.

Well back to the action. It became an open pit style day. I’ve never been on one of these before. They’ve always been sessioned days where you are allotted a time period to go out and have to stick to it. This allowed you to go out whenever you fancied. Great!
So a plan of action? Find a friend and double up. You drive ‘til you or the car has had enough then swap. It worked what great fun drive then passenger, short rest and then do it all again. Remember this was under blue skies and a near clear track.
TVRs were short in numbers so we were assisted by the Lotus guys and the Caterfields. Thanks go to them for very ably making up the numbers. Note the yellow beast with a huge PH sticker. Wey hey – even up North they get sighted!
MGB
A few strange beasts out of their cages today – most memorable being the MGB GT. Now this car was well sorted and put a few newer cars to shame. I sought further answers and spoke to the owner. “Oh don’t worry about putting TVR to shame” he said. “I came here a few weeks back and went out on a Subaru dealer day. Initially the dealer was a little surprised and upset. Later I called in to see him and his tone had changed. He said thanks to me.”
I asked why and was told that the boys had started making orders for upgrades! Take a commission!
I was so enthusiastic today that I once again I burnt the brakes out on the TAZ.
So, what's stopping you?! Try a track day. Free instructors are available who will add a new dimension to your experience of your car. You can only push it so far on the road and get away with it. You can push it further on the track – but only so far!
My own excuse for not having a TVR there is not currently having a TVR, but I was there with the MegaBlade. The Audi A8, that was going surprisingly well, was I understand a Griff owner sans Griff.

Note Croft is 170 miles Down South to me.
So, for anyone thinking they should have been there - now's the time to book up for Oulton Park! Don't miss that one too.

and a couple of TVR dealer days this year. Just couldn't fit this one into schedule. Have to work sometimes to pay for fun.
The good thing about TVR days is that you can compare like with like.See if your car is up to scratch and driver also!
It's difficult for a Griff to follow an Elise round a bend.I know.But when you've straightened up, you can pass it on the straight!
Can't do the TVRCC at Oulton in August because of hols.Would like to but just can't.

My mistake - perhaps next time.
One thing that put me off is the feeling that I'd probably need 'new tyres' after the track day. Is this correct? Certainly put me off a bit with the cost of the day itself, some insurance and a new set of boots nearly doubling the price.
Oh plus HHC are also organising a trackday very soon - again I was under the impression they were all full.
We have people who drive over from England & Scotland every year to enjoy our TVRCC Track Day at Kirkistown, N. Ireland.
We are even having to limit numbers now to 35 Cars, for the full day on a 1:53 mile circuit, with a BBQ lunch included all for £60.

You know, better cornering but less acceleration etc. and the odd boy-racer in his 206. I know racing is frowned upon but we all do it and playing with those Elise's is good fun.
TVR track days aren't all TVRs though. At Croft there was Elises, Exige, Westfields [bike and car engined], MGB, Subaro, Alfa and even an Audi and a small Vauxhall out [Corsa?]. Last year's Oulton had a couple of Ferraris [360 & 355], race Jag, caterfields etc.
Point about TVR days is there's a good mix on track, plus on track manners are good, plus you can see how you're doing against similar cars.

Oh lets all out brake eachother into corners and why not have a bit of contact? overtake on the inside and someone else on the outside - thatd make for a spectactle. Why dont we just call it the Tasmin Challenge?
