As a preliminary to changing my dash to the shinny new one I picked up from Leven at the Growl, I have been checking all the LED's so I can replace any US ones at the same time. During this I have not been able to ascertain the purpose of the 2nd of the three LED's in a vertical line that are between the Speedometer and Tachometer.

According to the handbook the top one numbered 10 is Oil Pressure the middle one is numbered 30 (but is not mentioned again in the handbook) and the bottom one numbered 13 is the Ignition Warning Light. As far as I am aware none of these LED's ever illuminate. I'm not worried about 10 or 13 as the Oil Pressure and Ignition Warning lights in the Speedometer are working so suspect these two LED's are not wired in.

But I am puzzled to the purpose of the middle one.

I seem to remember one of them being a repeater for the indicator indicators...

My car is a pre cat so I don't have this 3rd LED in the dash, I have 10. Ignition Warning Light & 13. Oil Pressure Warning Light as you do - and my handbook only has 28 numbered things on the dashboard. So it seems they added it later and just continued the numbering sequence, possibly so they didn't have to re-do the entire handbook or to avoid confusion when people were referring to the handbook.

Out of curiosity, what is number 29 ?

I didn't realise TVR had put in an indicator repeater in the centre of the dash. That may explain why not many people seem to have been interested in my indicator repeater LED mod.

If its an indicator repeater, it does ot work or is not wired in!

29. apparently a switch just above the bonnet release that boosts the fresh air to the right hand centre vent and drivers foot well eye ball vent. That said I assume this was an extra, as its not fitted to my car.

Thanks for the advice guys, I've checked them again in the dark and no signs of a glow, not even an intermittent one Andy!

The dashboard was re-veneered by the last owner a few years back, so I may come across a few disconnected wires.

Dave, my car is a 96 with oil and ignition wired in and working in the speedo, I think I've read somewhere that this is not always the case, is this similar on your 98?

The oil and ignition is wired into my speedo as well as having the 3 LEDs.

On my '97 500 the top LED , according to the handbook, is the ignition warning light. However it doesn't light up when the ignition is turned on, but does so, briefly, only the instant I turn the ignition (engine) off. This seems totally pointless to me. Could it be that the LED is wired up with the terminals reversed? Any advice would be welcome.

Both ignition and oil light stays on with the key turned to the 'on' position. Both go off when it's running (as they should)
