New Goodyear F1-A tyres; First impressions

Just treated her to a full set of rubber as my S03's were shot, especially the rears.
Personally i have never liked Pirelli as a make and always liked goodyear so i was keen to try their latest tyre.
Only done 100 miles or so , so still scrubbing in, but so far they feel fantastic. They are giving a harder ride which i think is because they have a 92 load rating instead on 88, but the turn in feels nicer and the grip level already seems greater.
I am not a good driver and they will not see a track but for my limited ability i think they are ideal. The cost was 535 all in inc nitrogen filled. Anyone who can actually drive is more than welcome to come and have a blast and see what they think

I've been waiting to hear feedback on these tyres! I'm surprised the ride is firmer than the S03s, bridgestone normally have some of the stiffer sidewalls and the GSD3 wasn't exactly the hardest tyre but it's good to hear Goodyear are keeping moving forward.

Will be interesting to hear what they're like in the wet, the S03 isn't the worlds best cold wet performer so you should be quite happy with that too (if the noble ever sees rain)

The superseded (symmetrical) tyres were outstanding in the wet. It will be interesting to see how the asymmetricals compare.

Always difficult to compare as your normally comparing shot tyres with brand new. Agree i loved the F1's wet ability which is one of the reasons i fancied trying these. Again comparing a nice 8mm vs 3mm of tread is not vey scientific. Done about 400 miles now i think but the car is now in for a few bits to be touched up so cant do any more miles this week Also cant get the bobbles off the sidewalls so that shows how pansy i am at cornering!

LOL! I'm the same. In time, I find running them up a curb or two sorts them out.

I found Andy Walsh and 3 minutes was enough to scrub the last tyres in well

interesting topic, am between the tow myself at the moment, prices out here are

set pzero 683 euro or GBP 471
set goodyear 570 euro or GBP 393

thats just to buy, fitting extra. not really much in it price wise between the two,

Is that price definately for Aysemetricals? if it is then go for it Sean, thats a good price. even with fitting it would be nearly 80 quid less than i payed.

in that evo top ten falken came 2nd with the 452 with the 451 a couple of places behind .never used em so are they any good

Art, that's actually the site database ratings, the evo results are above in the article.

Lots of positive reviews of the FK452 here: http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Falken/FK452.htm I've yet to drive on them but they're meant to be a stunning tyre.

Personally I have found the Falken 452 a stunning tyre, especially when you consider that it is regarded as a budget tyre. Good grip in the wet or dry and yet a reasonable wear rate.

think tyres are very car specific if that makes sense but i am still very happy with mine. Posted a small review now my car has done 1k on them.

For no other reason than I couldn't get anything else at very very short notice I have the Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta's on mine at the moment.
looks like they came second in the test. they alos have had rave reviews in the USA
In the wet they have been awesome. Not had them on a track yet but looking forward to see how they perform on the car limits day

That's very timely. Yesterday I was thinkning it's about time I had some new tyres on the rears ( cus I seem to have a slow puncture and they are looking a bit low on tread ) and the F1-As where my choice ( I would have gone for F1-GSD3 but they don't do the rears in the right size ).

I shall be ringing round for prices but so what should I be looking at for a pair of rears ? and a pair of fronts ?

Worty, I'd be extremely interested to hear how the Vredesteins do on track. I find cheaper tyres really show their true colours once you've done 4 or 5 hard laps so it will be interesting to see if they hold up. EVO certainly loved them.

I got a full set fitted for 530 ish which i think is very good. dont think i have the receipt here but will try to dig it out over the weekend. Off the top of my head the rears were 160 ish and the fronts 105 ish
