Socket to fit OZ Split Rim Alloys.

I have made a socket that fits the 12 point bolts that are in the OZ Alloy Wheels. My father wanted one so he could strip down the alloys and get them cleaned and polished local to him to save shipping them away. I have made a few spares (perks of my job)and they are for sale in the clasified section with some other bits i have spare.

Are you reusing the bolts? Do you know if they are safe to reuse? OZ went to some length to stop other people from dismantling their wheels, and I imagine they had some reason for this. My guess would be that they decided it was too dangerous to have DIYers trying to assemble the wheels.

The original bolts were 10 point not 12, the 10's need a special tool. A standard bi-hex socket from any toolshop will probably be available to fit replacement 12 points?????

Sorry yeah 10 not 12 i can't count or spel .

I see what you are saying that it might be a safety reason to stop joe public taking them apart.

But it could also be to limit you to using a OZ specialist and pay there price were as if you have the socket there is nothing stopping you taking them to any alloy wheels company to be done. It's not a hard job to do but getting your hands on the tool to do it, thats the hardest part.

Could you not use a gator grips socket?

I tried a gatorgrip when I refurbed my OZ's - given the distance between the rim and the bolt head, the gator was way too big.

I Had to wait for these to come up on Pistonheads parts site. I paid £375 for them and then another £480 to have them refurbished at PX Wheels.
I do like the Image version but the origonal are the real thing and the only way to go in my book. Be patient and keep looking.
