I have a 99 Chimera the brake line that goes to the front passange caliper has a huge area of wear, looks like it has been rubbing on the startmotor or chassis in that area about a foot down from where the pipes enter the engine bay.

Any one know what size pipe TVR used and What thread the end couplings are.

Also what is the difference between Cupro nikel and copper brake lines, which is best.

Sorry i cant help with the sizes.I recently came across the copper and cupro nickel pipe choice myself during the re-build on my car.The cupro nickel is an alloy of copper and nickel, and is harder wearing because of the nickel content. It will also be less susceptible to corrosion. The only downside is that it is harder to bend, but it still bends pretty easily, and infact is not so easy to kink as a consequence.

The Kunifer copper/nickel produces better flares than copper,i hate working with the pure copper stuff, and dont use it anymore, just my cents worth,oh its standard size as well most descent outlets do it Brown brothers/Frost restorations/Sc motor factors etc.

CuNi every time IMHO, copper is awful to work with and looks as though it could be broken by a stray hammer angel

Thanks guys I will order some tomorrow.

Dose anyone here have any photos of the engine bay without engine showing the brake line route as it comes out the bulkhead to the bottom chassis rail, so I can check they are correctly routed on my car.

The scary part is I have painted most of the front chasis while the lump is out, it was only today cleaning off the odd bit of paint I got on the brake lines that I came accross the worn point. I Have a photo of the damaged pipe how do I put it up here, as It is almost worn thro on a 99 car only 30K miles.
