Funny Domster just posted up the link of Melv in action, coz I was about to post a link to the same site from the trackday I did at Spa on 26/27 May. There was a good quota of Pork, and spotted at least one photo of Scaramanga. Maybe some other owners are on here too - lots of Brits.

Cool.

There's three pictures of my 993 RS on there (black with normal wing). We only arrived at 3.30pm on the way to Germany, but had a pleasurable couple of hours at Spa, since most people had gone home or were leaving. At one point I did 4 laps without seeing a car in front or behind - very spooky.....

We then went on to visit the Porsche Factory Tour at Stuttgart the next day (saw a few 996 Turbo Cabrios roll off the production lines).

Also watched the 24hr race at the 'ring (best at bit is at night).

Oh and got nicked by the Belgians for doing 160kph in a 80kph zone. Got 375 euro cash fine (about £250) and was told if I was Belgian they would have seized my licence on the spot. Their chart for speeding fines stops at 60kph above the limit, so we just got the maximum, handy to know for future reference......

Needless to say the RS was faultless, 2800km in 7 days no problem, almost all of it at over 200kph (some at 280kph). One amazing statistic though - from Guildford to near the Swiss/German border (Singen) including 60 miles around Spa, we only stopped once for fuel......

What a car.....!

I take it you're GGT then? Beautiful car! Next on my shopping list, assuming the prices don't get outrageous between now and next year...

You said you only spent a couple of hours at Spa (I presume on the Tues afternoon?). Did you just turn up on spec, and negotiated some tracktime with Autotrack? If so, do you mind saying what the cost was? Interested because they're doing another Mon/Tues at the end of Sept, and I'm in two minds as to book or just turn up on spec.

It was certainly a lot quieter on the Tues - fair few folk did the full Sat/Sun Ring weekend, then Spa on Monday, then called it a day. Some others did Spa on Mon, then headed off Mon evening down towards the A1 Ring in Austria for a trackday on Wed - 700 miles each way Not sure it's that good....certainly in comparison to the Ring and Spa.

E

Correct re the car.

Spa is a bit far to go on an off-chance. Because we were driving through Belgium that day, on the way to Germany, the organisers agreed to book us for just the afternoon (at half-price), as a one-off.

It's a cheap trackday anyway at only £180 per day, for such an awesome circuit, next time I'll go for a full day (or two).
