Does this sound unreasonable? I put my A4 into Croydon Audi this morning (first time in my ownership of the car) to get the brakes checked and the glovebox fixed. I didn't ask for a replacement car because I'm working from home today, so I asked for a lift home, I was told that their driver was off sick???!!! They then offered to call me a cab, but at my expense! I asked if I could take one of the 6+ A4s that they had on the forecourt but was told that this wouldn't be possible. Luckily Mrs Dead had decided to take the day off work so she came and collected me. Surely this is bloody shoddy service, considering it's an Audi main dealer, they could've at the very least got one of the sales guys to drive me home?

I take it you were joking? Did you really expect to be able to take a car that they have on the forecourt? They are probably untaxed & prepared for sale. I am due to drop my BMW off for a service today. As I have no loan car booked I have made my own arrangements.
It seems 'shoddy service' is in the eye of the beholder.

It's quite possible that the forecourt cars weren't insured for anything other than test drives or something. Refusing to pay for your cab is a bit off though.
I didn't actually think of the insurance thing, that may of been the case, i wasn't going to stick around to listen to another excuse at this stage, the car will be going to Epsom Audi from now on methinks! Scockers said:

You think that's bad. Wait til you get the bill for the inspection and fix on the glove box. Make sure you're sitting down.Edited by mat205125 on Tuesday 28th August 14:46
Just a small point, why should one of the salesmen break off their work to take you home? Service people sure, sales people?
If you had been told that you would have a lift home then it is bad service, if you assumed you could have a lift home then it is not.
Regarding the cars outside the likelihood is that they were not taxed, if you can imagine the tax bill for keeping every car on the pitch taxed it would be immense. Cars are taxed as and when they are sold, customers would only complain that they got 9 months instead of 12 or 4 months instead of 6 otherwise.

Why should any dealer pay for a cab for a customer?
Call for one to collect you would be a nice gesture though.
You and every other customer will only have to pay for the cab anyway, whether you know it or not!

If you asked for a lift in advance, were offered one and then let down on the day then yes, it is bad service.Gassing Station | Audi, Seat, Skoda & VW | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
