Monza F1 test day 1
Discussion
Monza - 28 August 2007
The first day of testing on the famous Autrodromo di Monza began today under the very warm Italian Sun, before cloud cover moved in and brought a curtain of rain late in the day.
Since additional rain is expected over the next few days, the three-day testing programme could be extended to four although nothing definite has been decided at this point.
It's only day 1 ...

wow - look at how little wing front and rear the Mclaren is running.
makes sense to be running as little as possible for speed at Monza, but they must still be generating enough downforce (and mechanical grip) to get it turned in, whilst the other teams are struggling - Ferrari were way off the pace yesterday

Isn't it odd that McLaren have been running the bridge wing (extra wing going over the nose) all season but at the Monza test they have removed it, but other teams are now trying them out.
I'd imagine that they've done this to reduce drag for Monza, in line with the rest of the aero package. Just because other teams are testing bridge wings at the Monza test doesn't mean they expect to run them there (although it's a possibility). They may just be understanding their character ahead of use at other races.egomeister said:

Does Nakajima have the most potential to be succesful in F1 of any Japanese driver?, imagine if Japan had a top line driver they'd be beside themselves
I was in Japan when they had the first gp at Bahrain and watched it on tv. Everytime the coverage showed Sato, the commentators went mental. Think Murray in trousers on fire mode and multiply it by 10 and you'll get the idea. If they had a front running driver, the coronary rate amongst Japanese tv commenators would be sky high.Gassing Station | General Motorsport | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
