I'm determined to get my aircon working properly: one minute ice cold, next nothing.

Could anyone let me know what the main components are and where they are located.

The only real way to get the Aircon working is to take it to any decent local Air Con specialist for a re-gas, approx £80 ish, and they will sort it for you, or tell you what is wrong.

Compressor - on the top of the engine at the front.

Thermostat - to the RHS of the steering column under the dash (probably cable-tied in place).

Receiver-drier (with integral pressure switches) - under the LHS headlight (accessible by removing the LHS front wheel and removing the lower access panel).

For what it's worth, you'll probably never get the air-con in the Cerb as good as the air-con in a "sensible" car.

I'm a refrigeration engineer by trade and I have tried, and failed, on several occasions to get decent cold air in the car.

Best of luck ..... smile

I know my aircon system works because, from time to time, it blasts ice cold air. There is some variable or fault in the system that stops it functioning fully.

The system has been cleaned, oiled and repressurised. The company that did it said the vacuum reading was too low at idle but picked up at 3,000rpm.

My plan is to replace all the variables. I know very little about aircon systems but I'm guessing that the lack of vacuum could, among other things, be caused by a worn pump or faulty expansion valve if the valve has moving parts.

Does anyone know where the expansion valve is fitted and whether it has moving parts.
