Front Jacking Point ??
Discussion
I have a sheet showing the side jack points, but again circled in red by me looks like a strong point for single point front jacking. I also have a printed sheet that came with the car taken from a web site that mentions a jacking point under the front of the car, accessed with a low jack. I am guessing this is that point.
Where do you folks jack your car when changing the oil then? It really needs to be angled backwards to drain the sump fully and a side lift would be no good for the job?
Cheers

I wouldn't put any stress on a part where the steering rack sits! I use the front back and middle of the side rail. Put another way, I have an A frame bolted to the suspension points and across the front of the engine to take the stress off of this cross member on the chassis as it has to take so much under cornering load.
I am taking all this in. But can I be a right pain and ask why?
It wont affect the steering rack as thet is bolted above the large tubular cross bar. I also see the side jack points as weaker areas and more prone to twist the car on jacking.
I sound like a bit of an arse for asking this, but I just like to know exactly why we cant jack up the car from the front cross brace?
Looking at thi snap, its well supported. Also the TVR club say there is a center part under the engine to use as a jacking point. If its not this area, then where is it?

I appriciate your replies telling me NO, but could you please explain why? Only way for me to learn is to ask, I am not shy in asking.
Cheers

LOL, nice one! I will just get under there and have a good luck and suss it myself. I am weird in that I like to know why things either work or dont. I also like to tinker about myself and minor jobs such as oil and filter changes are dead easy so a good way of saving a few quid! I actually have seven cars, so it all adds up!
I will have a look nect week after my Ring trip and report back.
Cheers

Dave, be the pioneering type and jack it up in the middle at the front for us all to benefit from!
Where the fulcrum is way back at the rear wheels and c 65% of the weight will be on one point rather than two!
Without guys like you we'll never know!

In theory it sounds fine but I wouldn't experiment on my one. Mine still creaks and groans and I have about double of the steel in it with a full FIA cage, it has extra braces and it weighs less!
I lift it gently from each side and support it on four sturdy stands.
I also can't get a jack underneath, even a low level allyjack to that point but it is a bit lower than normal.

tbh there's no real danger with jacking there apart from putting a lot of load on the jack, risking bending the engine belly plate and it being a complete ass to get too.
Look at the picture. Once carefully jacking on the strong (if not rusted away
) triangulated outriggers they then proceed to tell you to put all the weight of the car back on the thin tube section of the outrigger that isn't really supported vertically and is in an area prone to rusting!!!
