Chaps,

Silly name aside, is this any good?

http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html...

I am new to the world of Sat Nav, and am thinking of a first purchase. This looks good (and gets rave reviews on the eBuyer site), but I simply don't know enough to judge whether it is a good buy or not.

Two big questions:

1. Will it warn me of speed cameras?

2. Will it inform me of traffic conditions, and find me an alternative route if it is busy?

Oh, and another one - will it work in Europe?

Thanks for any help ...

I've just bought this but only used it a couple of times. So far I'm very impressed, it is the first sat nav system i've used though !!

It comes with European maps on a DVD but you'll have to buy at least a 2 gig memory card to install them (only about 12 quid i think.).

Its a very handy little device which you can easily slip into a pocket and take around with you. Not sure about the speed camers or tarffic conditions as I've only used it locally so far.

As you've said its got rave reviews so some people must like it. The package it comes with contains a lot of stuff too.

I think it might be discontinued now which might explain the price drop so i'm not sure about updates to the maps in the future.

Simon,

Thanks.

A bit more reading on the link I posted suggests that you can get a speed camera database which can be loaded onto the Loox machine, although it will cost a couple of euros a month to keep it updated. I could be tempted.

Also, the fujitsu website gives a list of accessories for the N100, here:

http://vilpublic.fujitsu-siemens.com/vil/pc/vil/da...

... one of which is a TMC add-on, which will allow traffic updates. (Not cheap tho'.)

So, I am even more tempted. So tempted, in fact, that I think I may just buy one.

Thanks for your input ... I'll keep you posted.
