330d replacement gearbox

Hi,

Experienced some problems with my 330d 2002 automatic at the weekend and had to have it towed in to the local independent garage (Norton's - Banbury, oxon - very good) who have informed me that it needs the gearbox replacing.

The car's done 90k and whilst they have quoted some rough prices they say the best option is to fit a reconditioned box, but say they will have major problems in finding one.

Can anyone recommend some places which I could try to find a replacement gear box.

I seem to remember there was an article in the BMW car club mag within the last 12 months about a company that re-conditioned gearboxes, perhaps you could give the club secretary a bell and ask them?

They can be rebuilt for around £1k.

A much more viable option than one off a breaker, as it should come with a year warranty at least.
